How Often Should You Clean Artificial Grass?

by Dec 27, 2022Uncategorized

Do I need to clean my artificial grass?

Yes, artificial grass needs to be cleaned on occasion! We understand that you likely invested in artificial grass because it was a low-maintenance alternative. Your artificial grass is comparable to an outdoor carpet. Over time, the turf will accumulate dirt, organic debris, hair, bacteria, animal urine, etc. however you may not see this on the surface because it gets trapped deep within the thatch layer. You would not believe how much of this we extract when cleaning an artificial lawn that appears to be “clean”.

At the very least you should be clearing off the organic debris with a leaf blower on a regular basis (especially during the fall season). This will prevent the organics from decomposing into soil, which can cause weeds to appear in the turf. If you have children playing on the turf and/or dogs peeing on the turf, you’ll want to have your turf deep-cleaned at least 2x per year. If you’re located in the lower mainland of Vancouver, we can help with our turf cleaning service.

To give you an idea, this is what we extracted from a turf lawn that appeared to be “clean”… Yuck!
