Does Artificial Grass Need a Border?

Borders for Artificial Grass

If you are considering having an artificial lawn installed, you may be wondering if it needs some kind of border and what your options are. After installing nearly 1000 of these artificial lawns throughout Vancouver, we have come to the definitive conclusion that the answer is always YES, you do need edging between your turf and garden bed!

If your artificial grass is going to border against a garden bed, you’ll need some sort of edging installed to prevent soil from spilling into the grass, thus creating weeds along the edges. The main reason people get turf installed is so that it can look beautiful all year with minimal maintenance, so don’t skip out on the garden border! Additionally, it will give it a clean-looking finish (just see the photos below!) There are a variety of different materials that can be used to achieve this at price points ranging from about $4 to $40 per linear foot.

Option 1: Low-profile plastic edging: Budget about ~$5/linear foot installed
