Is it time for turf?
If you’re reading this article here in Vancouver, I’m willing to guess you are considering having artificial grass installed… but maybe it’s still winter (AKA the “ landscaping “offseason”). Although you can technically install turf year-round with the right stretch of weather in Vancouver, you are going to have the best luck having your installation done between March and October.
Here are 3 important considerations when timing your synthetic turf install:
- Is the ground frozen? → If you see frost/snow on the ground or morning temperatures dipping below 2 degrees it will be challenging to complete the excavation. Additionally, it is not advisable to glue artificial turf seams or attempt to infill the grass during cold weather. You’re far better off to wait for the spring, but now is a good time to reach out, as our spring schedule fills up quickly over the winter months!
- Are there enough dry-weather days? → Installing turf, paving stones, concrete or most other types of exterior hardscapes can be very difficult in rainy season as we need to plan our schedules around the forecasted dry-weather days. We still take on a handful of jobs during the shoulder season, however you can expect frustrating weather delays. Unfortunately we have no control over mother nature, but again, you’ll be better off waiting until the spring!
- What is the availability of your installation team? → many prospective clients fail to plan far enough in advance and are disappointed when they find out we have a waiting list! If it were easy to add more crews we would; however great turf technicians don’t grow on trees!
